Sierra Smiles
When it comes to mouth rinses, not all products are created equal. Often people believe these mouthwashes, claiming to kill 99.9 percent of germs and bacteria are essential in their daily dental routines. At Sierra Smiles in Reno and Lake Tahoe, Dr. John Bocchi and the team of dental experts encourage patients to reconsider using mouth rinses containing alcohol and other ingredients, which wreak havoc on good bacteria.

“Many of our patients who have optimal home care use oral water flossers and brush twice a day,” Bocchi says. “Popular mouth rinses may contain increased acidic pH levels, high alcohol content, and unnecessary fluoride. It’s important to speak with your dentist to ensure you’re using the right products that won’t kill the good bacteria present in the mouth to protect you.”

According to the American Dental Association, there are two main types of oral rinse: cosmetic and therapeutic. Available both over the counter and by prescription, therapeutic mouth rinses help to reduce or control plaque, gingivitis, bad breath, and tooth decay. Readers are encouraged to look at products with the ADA Seal of Acceptance to determine whether a mouth rinse demonstrates safety and efficacy standards for optimal mouth health, and speak with your dental practitioner before implementing it in your daily routine.

With a comprehensive range of services all under one roof, Sierra Smiles ensures each patient’s dental needs are not just met but exceeded. From state-of-the-art cosmetic dentistry to the comfort of intravenous sedation, its staff caters to your unique requirements with precision and care. What sets it apart is a strong commitment to preventative care. Beyond the routine check-ups, experts meticulously screen all patients for sleep and airway issues, a growing problem for more than 900 million adults worldwide. Understanding the vital connection between oral health and overall well-being, Bocchi and the team take a proactive approach to address potential concerns before they escalate.

“As we embark on this journey together, we invite you to experience dentistry reimagined,” Bocchi notes. “At Sierra Smiles, your smile is not just a reflection of oral health; it’s a testament to your overall well-being. Join us in embracing a new era of comprehensive dental care, where excellence and comfort converge seamlessly.”
