Meet Our Contributors

Eric Cachinero is a native Nevadan, travel writer, and author of the book Odyssey of a Ghost Town Explorer. In 2022, he hiked 2,650 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico and ate an abundance of wild foods during his journey. Cachinero is the community relations manager for Douglas County and previously worked as associate editor of Nevada Magazine for eight years. He has explored nearly every nook and cranny that The Silver State has to offer.

Cameron Cox is an ecological farmer-turned-landscape designer who is passionate about biophilic design and green infrastructure. She is excited for the day when the Reno-Tahoe area adopts green roofs for greater resilience against climate change. In her spare time, she loves learning about new cultures, hiking with her pups, Dutch and Bandit, and pretending cheese is kale.

Nora Heston Tarte is a long-time Reno resident living on the south side of town. In addition to food, her hobbies include wine, hiking, yoga, and travel. She also is the managing editor of a regional, lifestyle publication and freelances for other publications, most frequently in the travel space. You can follow her travel adventures, and local exploits, on her Instagram account at Wanderlust_n_wine.

Mike Higdon loves discovering and telling stories about his community and has created articles, photographs, and graphic design for more than 20 years in Northern Nevada. He has worked for various regional publications over the years and also created his own blog covering beer and spirits news. He now co-owns Flanz Media, a Reno-based storytelling agency that produces inspiring content for businesses, organizations, and publications.

In past lives, photographer Shaun Hunter has published books of travel memoirs, completed 50-mile running races, and sneaked into no fewer than five Go-Go’s concerts. The most famous celebrity in his phone book is Paula Abdul. He takes pleasure in naps and vegan donuts.

Wade Snider is a Lake Tahoe-based photographer, known for his exceptional talent in capturing the beauty of the region through his lens. Apart from photography, Wade has a genuine passion for delicious cuisine and enjoys the interactions he has with chefs and producers in the region. Through his lens and love for gastronomy, Wade strives to create captivating visual stories and celebrate the culinary wonders of Lake Tahoe and beyond.
