Come out of your hole and join us on Sat., Feb. 3, 2024, for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Groundhog Fever Festival for an afternoon of fun and entertainment! The party starts at 11 a.m., with several mini-contests (with prizes) taking place back-to-back throughout the afternoon! There’s something fun for everyone, including the Whipped Cream Wrangle (it’s not what it sounds like… or maybe it is?), the beer-drinkers’ beloved Flip Cup Fight, the presentation of the Honorary Mayor of Quincy award, the Thumb Wrestle Tussle (for kids only), or “The Bach” bachelor/bachelorette auction (for adults only).
Of course, the festivities wouldn’t be complete without Chuck Wood, Quincy’s own furry little prognosticator, who will make his prediction about winter. That will be immediately followed by Arm Wrestle-Mania and then the Facial Hair Frenzy for all of you with fuzzy faces. Kids can create their own facial hair styles at our make-your-own-mustache booth, and even compete too!
Thanks to local business sponsorships, Quircus returns to the Kid Zone this year with its state-of-the-art cotton candy machine, popcorn, face painting, balloon animals, flow arts, and other circus activities.
Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship will be in the house at the Kid Zone with its popular mini-bike course, suitable for all ages.
New this year, Gott Powersports will bring remote control cars so you can try your hand at racing in the Kid Zone!
To the east of the courthouse (and weather permitting), a classic car display will also be present.
Enjoy the Chili Cookoff and pick your favorite — prizes will be awarded in the categories of People’s Choice, Judge’s Choice, and Best-Dressed Booth. Chili-tasting tickets are only $5 each, but hurry! There’s a limited supply of tickets, and last year’s tasting sold out!
Who doesn’t love beer with their chili? You’ll find a beer booth nearby; for those who don’t love beer, wine will also be on hand. Alcohol tickets can be purchased for only $6 each with valid ID.
Vendors galore will also be showcasing their handmade goodies, to delight any shopper.
