The Nevada Day Parade is the largest celebration of statehood in the nation, right here in Carson City. No other state does their birthday party like we do! And it’s been going on for 85 years. My speech will be about the history of the Nevada Day celebration, featuring old black and white photos that show the floats from the days when showgirls from the casinos rode on them. I have some fun stories to share along with photos of covers of the parade programs from yesteryear all in comparison to the types of entries and artwork we see in the parade today. It will be a time capsule about the history of Nevada Day parades.
