If you spot a long, open-aired vehicle, propelled by pedaling and partying passengers, rolling along the streets of downtown Reno or Carson City, it’s the CyclePub.
“It’s the only bike of its kind in Nevada,” says Mike Ball, co-owner of CyclePub, a specialized tour business that capitalizes on using the vehicle of the same name.
CyclePub offers customized excursions on the CyclePub for up to 15 people of any age (21+ only when alcohol is on board), during which you’ll travel either a predesigned route or one you create. You may pedal to and stop wherever you want — restaurants, pubs, historic sites, and others — or not stop at all. One customer cruised through Carson City’s Taste of Downtown for five hours, halting to sample the showcased fare. You could reserve the CyclePub, say, for business meetings, nonprofit affairs, or youth or family activities, or use it as a serving station at events.
“It’s your own personal parade on wheels,” Ball says.
You may take and consume food on the CyclePub, order ahead and pick up from a restaurant, or dine at an eatery — during your expedition. Alcohol is allowed on the cyclepub in Carson City but not in Reno. Though, as edible Reno-Tahoe was going to press, Ball was working to change that.
The CyclePub is equipped with a bar top, 10 pedaling and two non-pedaling seats, a bench on the back and a sound system. Take your favorite music and whatever else you would like to make your ride memorable.
The minimum tour is two hours long ($300). And any greater length of time is optional ($100 per extra hour). You may reserve a time slot for a tour at www.Cyclepub.com/nevada. Click on “Book Now” for date and time availability.
“If you book it, we ride,” Ball says.
