Revisit some of our favorite recipes using fresh strawberries:
Strawberry Caipiroska is a vodka-based cocktail sweetened with a little sugar, fresh strawberries, with a dash of muddled lime.
Strawberries and Cream Gelato “You have a bowl of the freshest, ripest, juiciest strawberries. Sprinkle just a bit of sugar on top, and drown the berries in rich cream. Taste. Die and go to heaven. That’s what this gelato is like.” This recipe makes creamy, rich gelato with strawberries and a hint of lemon. What more could you want in a summer dessert?
Fruit Crisp with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Although you can make this dessert with nearly any type of fruit, we suggest preparing with strawberries and rhubarb. Hot out of the oven, this dessert is served best with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bonus points if it’s homemade ice cream.
Strawberry Lime Soda is made from just four ingredients. Making your own soda is a fantastic way to satisfy your craving without consuming extra additives such as high fructose corn syrup and chemical dyes (known to be unnatural and possibly damaging to your health).
You can also try fresh strawberries atop a spinach salad sprinkled with feta cheese and slivered almonds. A strawberry dipped in chocolate is a tried and true classic, but you can try using dark chocolate for added antioxidants. Dice fresh strawberries and fresh apples, sprinkle with sugar and lemon/lime juice for a simple salsa to spread inside a crepe.
For all those pesky green stems, use a strawberry stem remover at Nothing To It Culinary Center at 225 Crummer Lane in Reno. The tool also easily removes the (often bitter) white core of the strawberry.
