A Delicious New Year!

A Delicious New Year!

And on top of all this, let’s all raise a glass to our new January-February issue, our special annual Drinks issue, which pays homage to our region’s drinking establishments, tantalizing local drinks, drinks artisans, growers of drinks ingredients, and even drinking vessels. Here’s a taste of what’s inside:

COVER: Who doesn’t love pulling up a crooked stool at a backcountry bar and listening to outlandish stories from the locals while tossing back a few cold ones? In our cover story, written by guest contributor Sydney Martinez from Travel Nevada, take a journey to some of Nevada’s most iconic rural bars. The Silver State’s Sagebrush saloons offer history galore and a whole lot of local flavor.

FEATURE: The new year is all about hop-portunity, right? Well, it is here in Nevada, anyway! For this feature story, talented, longtime contributor Barbara Twitchell took a trip to follow the hops trail, from the farm to your foamy glass, to explore Reno-Tahoe’s burgeoning hops enterprise.

TOAST OF THE TOWN: In this story, meet the owners of The Depot, Nevada’s first brewery-distillery, situated in a beautifully restored, historic building in downtown Reno.

GOOD SPIRITS: Why make an old, tired cocktail with the same old vodka or rum when you can swap that sip for something exciting and different? For this issue, we reveal some tasty alternative liquors, including mezcal, tequila’s elder elixir.

LIQUID CULTURE: It’s gorgeously green and deliciously healthy. Matcha mania is sweeping the region … find out what all the fuss is about.

TIPS AND TRICKS: Single-origin. Fair Trade Certified. Bird Friendly. Need help deciphering your java’s jargon? We’ve got you covered.

And, as if all this wasn’t enough to get excited about, our Wedding Guide is out, our Wedding Guide is out! If your holiday season included getting engaged, this should be your first stop to find the area’s hottest venues, finest caterers, and other exceptional vendors.

Well, gang, that’s it for now, but keep an eye on our blog and lots more coming your way from our social media feeds. If you haven’t already (and why haven’t you, by the way?), please like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram.
