Dayton Taphouse
The Dayton Taphouse underwent an ownership change in September. Jessica Zaldana purchased the property on Sept. 7 and promptly closed it for two weeks for renovation before reopening on Sept. 20. While some of the employees are new, including Stephen Orlando, the new bar manager and bartender coming from a management position at Buckaroos Saloon in Gardnerville, regulars will recognize some familiar faces.
Zaldanaโs future plans include an expanded menu, more entertainment, an outdoor awning and stage deck, and several indoor improvements to feature the addition of a wedding venue.
Senior Tequilas and The Morris
The owners of 23 Downtown Reno properties received funds from the 2025/2026 ReStore Facade and Tenant Improvement Program totaling $1 million in all. The goal of the program is to revitalize commercial properties throughout Reno.
Two food businesses on Fourth Street were among the awardees. Senor Tequilas and The Morris, which will house a bakery and bar as part of its development project, received part of the matching funds. In all, 13 buildings, 28 storefronts, and 11 new businesses will benefit from ReStore.
Cook’d
Cookโd is coming to Reno. Owners of the popular Minden sports bar and grill announced the opening of a second location would be in May of 2026. The restaurant will take over the vacant space left by Napa-Sonoma on South Virginia Street. Owners Bryan and Lavinia Miller decided to open the second storefront after several Reno customers mentioned a need for the space. They plan to start renovations in December. In general, they said the menu will be the same as the Minden location but with an elevated โ and expanded โ wine list.
