Reno Garlic Fest Returns Aug. 3

Reno Garlic Fest Returns Aug. 3

Join us on Sat., Aug. 3, for the Reno Garlic Fest — the “Biggest Little Fragrant” event of the summer! From 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., explore offerings from local farmers and savor delicious fare from various food vendors at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center in Downtown Reno.

“Reno’s vibrant diversity is beautifully showcased through its eclectic food events,” remarks event producer Melissa Williams. “Garlic is such a beloved ingredient and has a unique ability to bring our community together.”

The Reno Garlic Fest was established in 2018 by Reno Food Systems, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable farming practices and community support. Comprising farmers, mentors, and advocates, Reno Farm Systems is committed to stewarding lands and promoting the responsible use of resources. Its mission extends beyond agriculture to encompass environmental stewardship, community well-being, and the cultivation of a sustainable future for generations to come.

“There are more than 600 varieties of garlic grown all over the world, but grocery stores only carry one kind,” adds Jolene Cook of Reno Food Systems. “At Garlic Fest, you can economically support our local farmers and sample an assortment of various garlics. Biodiversity is sustainability, baby!”

The synergy between Reno Food Systems’ collaboration with Northern Nevada farmers and Williams’ extensive culinary background and event production experience (as the owner of Feed The Camel) ensures that the 2024 Reno Garlic Fest will feature a diverse array of vendors. Guests will be able to purchase locally raised garlic and produce, garlic-focused goods and fare, resourceful education, and the crowd favorite, garlic-centric cuisine.
