Sharpay Evans-DeLeon and Sofia Evans did more than pose for our cover shoot. The drag queens also took time to share with us their preferences when it comes to the quintessential summer treat: the hot dog.

Evans-DeLeon picks her favorite dog for the shoot

Always dressed to impress, the two say theyโ€™re picky about dressing their food, too. Sofia is the first to admit sheโ€™s a basic B.

โ€œJust simple ketchup and mustard,โ€ she exclaims. โ€œIf I feel like spicing things up, I might add a dollop of relish and mayonnaise.โ€

But donโ€™t chastise her; Sofia knows mayonnaise on a hot dog will spark heated debates. Even Sharpay calls out the faux pas.

โ€œThis condiment should be reserved to school boxed lunches only,โ€ Sharpay says.

Sharpay prefers a little more bite from her dog.

โ€œMy go-to toppings are immediately mustard and relish with a little bit of onion. I feel like these are traditional toppings, but when I take a bite of a hot dog with these toppings, it instantly makes it feel like summer,โ€ she says.

And summer makes them both โ€œwant a hot dog real badโ€ (cue Jennifer Coolidge here โ€” and if you donโ€™t get the reference, Iโ€™m not sure we can help you).

โ€œIโ€™m a savory gal, so anything spicy can steer clear,โ€ Sofia says, explaining that youโ€™ll never catch her throwing jalapeรฑos or hot sauce on her wiener. โ€œMy delicate and sensitive tongue canโ€™t handle such intense spice!โ€

โ€œI am also one who enjoys a nice sloppy chili cheese dog โ€” extra chili,โ€ Sharpay says, though she only digs in with a fork and knife. After all, what would you expect from a lady?

When it comes to a chili dog, Taste of Chicago in Reno serves the best, at least in Sharpayโ€™s opinion, but if sheโ€™s looking for a quick and tasty bite โ€” well, things get trashy real quick. The friendly neighborhood gas station is her go-to, thanks to the affordable prices and abundance of condiments.

Sofia is more likely to be found at Coney Island Dogs & Burgers in Reno, where she gleefully orders The Frankie (with mustard, relish, and onion), although both gals admit hot dogs are most often consumed at summer get-togethers, barbecues, and Reno Aces games.

โ€œWhatโ€™s a more perfect combo than hot dogs, an adult beverage, and watching a bunch of grown men pitch and catch?โ€ Sharpay asks. โ€œIโ€™ll wait.โ€
