As summer transitions to fall, the season’s harvest, with its bushels of fresh maize and spicy chiles, makes its way into authentic Mexican cuisine. Way beyond the simple taco, these classic favorites range from street food such as elote (seasoned corn on the cob) to menudo, pozole, tamales, and tres leches cake, from recipes handed down through generations and lovingly prepared the traditional way, without shortcuts.

In this issue, you’ll meet a handful of local culinary professionals who are committed to carrying on those traditions and serving up these authentic Mexican dishes to the Reno-Tahoe community … and the results are muy bien!
