Coffee, Community, Cat Love

Come for the whiskers, stay for the drinks at Reno’s Kitty Kisses Café.

In October 2025, the United States surpassed Japan as the world leader in cat cafés, boasting more than 300 nationwide. Today, every state has one except Delaware and Alaska. Cat coffeehouses offer the best of kitties and cappuccinos with a cool, contemporary ambience that fosters community, connection, and animal well-being.

Kallie Laity, founder of Kitty Kisses Rescue of Reno, a nonprofit organization, brought cozy feline magic to South Reno. With blush-pink walls, playful murals, fun merchandise, and a row of square windows overlooking the cat lounge, the space invites, as she says, “people who are looking to socialize, but not necessarily in a noisy place with a ton of people. It’s … a [refreshingly] like-minded space.”

Feline Happy Hour
Laity stumbled across her first cat café in 2017 in Austin, Texas, and fell head over paws for the laid-back atmosphere where cats and their human admirers could comingle. Thanks to more than two decades of animal volunteer work, a lifetime of cat fangirling, and business degrees to match, Laity realized she’d found her true calling.

But the next steps eluded her until she connected with Devin Sizemore and Haley Meadows, then owners of Reno’s Enchanted Cat Café. After three months working alongside them, Laity had the opportunity to purchase and rebrand the business. The resulting cool café vibe comes with knowledge you’re helping a worthy cause.

“Every purchase, cat lounge access, merchandise, drinks, snacks … goes back to the nonprofit. That is how we fund all the vet bills and veterinary care that we do. It’s extremely, extremely rewarding,” Laity explains.

Eat, Drink, and Purr
Beyond its charm, Kitty Kisses Café’s menu offers a wide selection of coffee drinks, teas, and other hot beverages, as well as wines, beers, and finger foods and snacks. Hot cocoa meets spice in the chocolate chai, a mainstay and top seller. But the beverage creativity doesn’t stop there.

Laity also brings old-world charm to her location with wine, chocolate, and espresso pairings, such as the brown tabby (espresso, chocolate, and cabernet sauvignon) and Meow Mix (merlot with café mocha). Laity likens them to “wine-filled chocolates,” and regulars agree they’re the cat’s meow.

If you’re new to the coffee, chocolate, and wine-pairings scene, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Inspiration for these palate pleasers dates to 18th-century England when inventive folks topped steaming brews with Madeira floats.
