Mochinut Reno

Mochinut Reno celebrated its grand opening in Ridgeview Plaza in West Reno on Jan. 17, 2025. While there are many Mochinut franchises across the country, this marks just the third Nevada-based location and the first outside of the Las Vegas area. The shop, which features colorful and flavorful mochi-style doughnuts, also serves boba and corn dogs.

The Golden Dragon

Another restaurant expected to open soon is The Golden Dragon, moving into 999 Phoโ€™s former spot, at 2309 Kietzke Lane in Reno. The Chinese restaurant comes from the family responsible for Golden Flower, Asia Market, and Poke King.

The Wolf Den

The Wolf Den has had a somewhat complicated history of opening and closing. Located near Lawlor Events Center, itโ€™s a popular bar for University of Nevada, Reno students. In June 2015, the Den shuttered again, but, as of 2025, itโ€™s reopened.

The Coyote Saloon

Before 2024 ended, The Coyote Saloon opened its doors. The country bar combines sports and line dancing for an extraordinary Reno experience. Located on Kietzke Lane, the saloon opens at 3 p.m. daily, offering a rotating selection of line-dancing events, bottle service, DJs, and more. It also hosts food trucks each day.

Stoked Oak BBQ

Birdeez

Birdeez, a mini-golf and darts fun center in Downtown Reno opened on Dec. 10, 2024. It comes from the same owners behind Downtownโ€™s Reno Axe and the Grand Sierra Resortโ€™s Sensology, adding to the Downtown playground landscape. The business features several lanes of electronic dart games, three challenging mini-golf courses in varying levels of difficulty, and a full restaurant and bar.

A pair of new Korean fast-casual restaurants opened recently. On Nov. 2, 2024, CrunCheese, a Korean hot dog concept, opened inside of Walmart in Carson City, and on Nov. 8, 2024, a new Korean fried chicken place called Basak Chicken opened in Sparks on Prater Way.

Graze Craze

Graze Craze opened in Sparks on Nov. 5, 2024. The charcuterie catering concept features boards, boxes, and platters made to order. There once was a location in Reno (that has since closed), making the Sparks location the only one in the area. It comes from franchise owners in Las Vegas who own three stores in the southern part of the state.

Darkshot Coffee

Josefโ€™s Vienna Bakery & Cafรฉ

Lewis Pierrott is at it again. Known for buying up Reno restaurant businesses, the current owner of Josefโ€™s Vienna Bakery & Cafรฉ purchased the building that houses Arlington Gardens Mall and Rattlesnake Club in early October 2024. He opened a second Josefโ€™s in the space.

Curse of Cane

Curse of Cane, a new cocktail bar on Center Street in Reno, opened in November 2024. The sister restaurant to Death & Taxes and Amari offers cool drinks in a bright and almost Wonderland-style space. In a somewhat unorthodox fashion, the restaurant began announcing popups ahead of its grand opening with announcements on Instagram, which also tease new cocktail menus.

Crave Cookies

Crave Cookies, a cookie and loaded soda franchise, opened next door to Sugar Blvd. in The Sticks in Midtown Reno. In addition to selling oversized cookies similar to the Crumbl business model, the shop also has an unbelievably long list of dirty sodas (spiked with cream, flavored syrups, and juices) with options to add boba.

On Oct. 1, 2024, Dairy Queen opened in a brand new building in the Raleyโ€™s shopping center in South Reno. The store is owned by Rajiv Paul, who also owns seven Arizona locations of the fast food giant, along with local Vish Krishnan.
