Pine Ridge Tavern

Pine Ridge Tavernย in Somersett in North Reno opened its doors on July 8. It takes the place of Peavine Tavern, which closed in Fall of 2024. Steve Uricchio, who owns the restaurant with his wife Stephanie, calls the fare โ€œupscale pub cuisine.โ€ In addition to pizza, salads, burgers, and sandwiches, there is an emphasis on elevated appetizers. The couple will also openย Stellars Lounge & Grillย next door, in the old Gambiโ€™s and The Bones Bar spaceย that closed earlier this year. Plans are to have the second restaurant up and running in September. Stellars will offer a more formal dining experience with continental cuisine, international fusion flavors, and an expanded wine list. Both restaurants fall under BDS Town Square Reno LLC, which Steve owns with two Las Vegas-based partners, Bruce Familian and David Nolan. Steve opened his first restaurant in 1995 in Bakersfield and has opened more than 25 restaurants since, some under his ownership but most at various casinos throughout the west. Desert Sun Bagel Co.

On July 7, Desert Sun Bagel Co. opened a second location in Smithridge Plaza (in the spot formerly occupied by Bam! Dog Righteous Hot Dogs and Honey Treat Yogurt). The new location offers the same bagels and breakfast sandwiches Desert Sun has become known for since first opening in 2010 as The Daily Bagel, but with more than double the space. The original location is at 495 Morrill Ave. in the Brewery District downtown. Both locations are owned by Shane Ritter.

Rising for the People Coffee Co.

The soft opening for Rising for the People Coffee Co. on Vesta Street in Midtown Reno is today (and the grand opening is July 25). The business, owned by Skyler Jones, started online in 2022 and expanded to distributing at local farmersโ€™ markets, Haven on Earth Bakery in Reno, and local events. The company partners with farms that use chemical-free farming methods and prioritizes fair-trade practices. Todayโ€™s business opening included the unveiling of a $3,000 mural project paid for by the City of Reno.

The Edge Restaurant & Lounge

On July 1, 2025,ย Edgewood Tahoe Resort,ย a premier luxury resort located on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Stateline, unveiled its newest fine dining concept,ย The Edge Restaurant & Lounge. Formerly known as Edgewood Restaurant, the new concept will give guests five-star dining with panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada. Diners will enjoy a menu that balances seasonal flavors with modern culinary techniques, such as tableside presentations, multi-course tasting menus, and artisanal craft cocktails. In addition, The Edge will house an expansive wine collection featuring more than 1,000 labels worldwide, including rare estate vintages and boutique Californian wineries โ€“ all hand-selected by expert sommeliers. In partnership withย Plant Construction Company, L.P. andย Collaborative Design Studio, theย remodel reflects a high level of luxury. The project also includes the interior of the existing entry, restaurant, bar, north and south ballrooms, kitchen, and lower-level restrooms, among other shared spaces.

Tadaima Shabu Shabu

In early June,ย Tadaima Shabu Shabuย opened in The Basement, at 50 S. Virginia St. in Downtown Reno. The Japanese restaurant specializes inย shabu shabu, a hot pot dish consisting ofย fresh vegetables and meats that you cook in your own simmering broth tableside.ย People are raving about theย chicken meatballs, which simmer in the broth. The owners, husband-and-wife team Sean and Yumi Patterson, are hands on and friendly.ย Itโ€™s open for lunch and dinner every day except Monday. Reservations required.

Martis Valley Lodge

On July 1,ย Martis Valley Lodgeย is opening in Truckee after a $9 million transformation. The property,ย a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel,ย will haveย a new restaurant called Trailhead Social, which will serveย โ€œelevated comfort food and aprรจs-style dining.โ€ The restaurant will include dishes such as Truckee River trout crostini, Truckee cheese fondue, Sierra sliders, and a signature Sierra wild berry cheesecake. In addition, the hotelย isย partnering with local artisans and purveyors to offer, for instance, coffee fromย Drink Coffee Do Stuffย and beer fromย Truckee Brewing Company. The property was previously aย Hampton Inn & Suites location.

Perenn at the Museum

Perennย โ€”ย the popular bakery, restaurant, and grocery store founded in Reno โ€” is opening a new cafรฉ inside theย Nevada Museum of Artย on Aug. 15. Until then, the cafรฉ will be closed for renovations. The space will be designed in collaboration with Anton Anger of Studio Meadowย based in Brooklyn. The new cafรฉ menu will include house-made croissants, pastries, and bread, as well as organic coffee, specialty lattes, and loose-leaf teas.ย Guests also will enjoy scrambled eggs in a croissant with Boursin cheese, a BLT on griddled country sourdoughโ€ฏwith citrus aioli, and a kale salad with a tahini-lemon vinaigrette. Diners will be able to eat and sip inside the cafรฉ as well as in the atrium and on the museumโ€™s patio. While Roundabout will no longer run the cafรฉ, the company will continue to be the museumโ€™s caterer for on-site events.

Cluckers

Cluckers, the restaurant on Center Street in Reno famous for itsย hand-breadedย fried chicken thigh sandwiches, is moving a few streets away into the old DOPO spot at 18 Saint Lawrence Ave. Owners of the restaurant hope to open at the end of August and the new space will have a full bar, extended hours, an updated menu, and TVs for sports and entertainment. Cluckers also is known for its whole wings, fresh-cut fries, and fried pickles.

Rolled Daiquiri Wagon

On June 12, the folks at Dorindaโ€™s Chocolates and Rolled: Mountain Creamery in Reno unveiled their 1976 vintage Miley horse trailer mobile bar, aka theย Daiquiri Wagon.ย It will serve daiquiris, beer, ice-cream sandwiches, chocolates, and custom cocktails. Dillon and Dustin Vance, owners of Rolled: Mountain Creamery and Dorindaโ€™s Chocolates, put many hours of love and work into the new mobile business. The trailer will be parked outside their Riverside location 5:30 โ€“ 8:30 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 4. The trailer also is available for events.ย 

Dolce Caffe

In June 2025,ย Dolce Caffeย opened a second locationย in the old Sierra Nevada Chocolates spot inย Midtown Reno. The new location will feature breakfast, lunch, and baked goods during the day and a full bar with charcuterie and other snacks at night. Bristlecone Brewing Co.

In late May 2025, Bristlecone Brewing Co. opened in the spot formerly occupied by IMBIB brewery on Second Street in Reno. The owners are Martin Barman and Matt Garcia and they were some of the brewers with Alibi Ale Works (in Incline Village and Truckee), which stopped brewing its own beer. The two are focusing on having a wide array of beer styles, with an even mix of lagers and ales. And they want to concentrate on making beers that are approachable and easy to drink. Currently, they are open 4 โ€“ 10 p.m. Fridays and 1 โ€“ 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. They plan to open on some weekdays soon.

Madame Butterworkโ€™s La Crรชperie

Circus Circus in Downtown Reno got a new dining spot in April.ย Madame Butterworkโ€™s La Crรชperieย is a cafeteria featuring breakfast favorites such as fresh crรชpes, coffee, and mimosas. The grand opening was held May 17, 2025.

Cascade Kitchens

An exciting food-and-drink project is brewing in South Lake Tahoe. Cascade Kitchens, at 1030 Tata Lane near the Y, is a commercial kitchen, food hall, and food-business incubator. The business will include seven full-time food vendor stalls; market kiosks for popup sales; a state-of-the-art commissary kitchen offering community memberships for food truckers; indoor and outdoor dining and imbibing spaces; events rooms; and a bar, called The Thirsty Bear, which will highlight regional beverages. Renovations began in early 2023 andย project partners hope to open the doors to the public in July of this year.

Brew Brothers at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe

Harrahโ€™s Lake Tahoe celebrated the grand opening of Brew Brothers in South Lake Tahoe on May 2, 2025.ย The four original Brew Brothers โ€” Glenn Carano, Gary Carano, Geno Carano, and Gregg Carano โ€” attended the celebration to honor the breweryโ€™s latest location. The new restaurant and bar took over the former food court and California Bar and offers more than 200 seats andย 30 high-definition TVs. The menu features locally sourced beers from such breweries as FiftyFifty in Truckee and seasonal craft beers brewed in-house, as well as cocktails and dishes such as burgers, wings, ribs, pizzas, tacos, and pasta. Brew Brothers, created by the Carano family in 1995 at the Eldorado Resort Casino in Reno, has 12 locations across the country.

Elixir Superfood & Juice

Elixir Superfood & Juice just signed a lease to open a second Reno location in the old Nektar juice spot in the Village at Rancharrah in South Reno. The owners are shooting for a July/August 2025 opening. The business started in Mammoth, Calif., and has a location on California Avenue in Midtown Reno. Elixir specializes in cold-pressed juices and fresh, organic, nutritious bowls with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and paleo choices. The company offers franchise opportunities.

Inclined Burgers + Brews

Weโ€™re excited to announce that a fourth location of Inclined Burgers + Brews will be opening in the Sticks development in Midtown Reno in mid-May. Inclined Burgers opened its first location in Incline Village about seven years ago, its second location in Northwest Reno in 2022, and its location at Northstar ski resort in 2023. The company also owns Biggest Little Steakhouse in Midtown Reno, which it opened three years ago. The newest location of Inclined Burgers will be the first to feature a full bar. Future plans for the site include a Champagne party concept in the greenhouse on the roof above the restaurant.

The White Rabbit Theater and Lounge

Want to watch someone pull a rabbit out of their hat? The White Rabbit Theater and Lounge at Grand Sierra Resort opened on May 3, announcing a Thatโ€™s Magic! show starring illusionists Kaileigh and Chase Hasty. The lounge features signature drinks and immersive entertainment nightly, tucked onto the hotelโ€™s arcade level where the movie theater used to be.

Roamer Coffee House

On April 27, 2025, Travis Tidd, and his wife, Marissa, celebrated the grand opening of Roamer Coffee House at 726 Glendale Ave. in Sparks. The couple renovated aย 1953 brick houseย to create the coffeehouse, which has a drive-through window. They will add a roasting facility in the future. This is the second location for the duo, whose first brick-and-mortar shop is at 300 S. Wells Ave., Ste. 5, in Reno. They recently rebranded that location, which was called Hand Craft Coffee Co.

Dahliaโ€™s Mexican Grillย

Dahliaโ€™s Mexican Grillย celebrated its grand opening April 28, 2025. The restaurant on South McCarran in Reno serves Mexican favorites.

Lillo Eatery

Lillo Eatery is the new Reno restaurant concept from Brittany Walshaw, who owned Pola Poke Bowls until recently. Lillo, which opened in March 2025, is located in the same storefront she ran Pola out of. In addition to salads and a collection of bowls spanning international cuisines, Walshaw kept a few poke bowls on the menu. She also serves creative mocktails and breakfast, made largely using goods baked by Off Center Bagel, which bakes out of the Plumb Lane cafe.

West Street Cafe and Bistro

West Street Cafe and Bistro opened in West Street Market in Reno where Sabrinaโ€™s West Street Kitchen recently celebrated its last day in early February 2025.

Toro Bravo

Toro Bravo, a collaboration between Sergio Romero from La Condesa and Rene Preciado from Mexcal, opened mid-March 2025 on the Riverwalk in Reno. The upscale Mexican steakhouse has taken over the location on Sierra Street that was formerly Smith and River.

Drink Coffee Do Stuff

Drink Coffee Do Stuff โ€” with locations in Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, and Incline Village โ€” celebrated its grand opening in the South Creek Shopping Center in South Reno on April 18, 2025. The business served free coffee all day, with a line out the door nonstop from opening to closing time. Drink Coffee Do Stuff is slated to open another location in Midtown Reno, previously occupied by The Arch Society and Junkee.

Burger NV

Burger NVย opened in a new location in Sparksโ€™ Victorian Square in April, celebrating its grand opening on April 26, 2025. The burger joint mostly carries burger-fry-soda combos, with a few other items to round out the menu. It is the second location of Burger NV, with the other one located inside of Reno Public Market. The Avenue of the Oaks location used to be a Mari Chuyโ€™s.

Cellar 8 & Press Cafรฉ

Downtown Carson City welcomed a pair of new businesses. The formerย Mayer Family Wines was rebranded toย Cellar 8 and will share space with Press Cafรฉ. The coffee shop, which opened on April 24, 2025, operates 7 a.m. โ€“ 2 p.m., with the wine bar taking over later in the day.
