Marmot Properties
Marmot Properties purchased the former Junkee building in Midtown. Now that Junkee has relocated to Reno Public Market, supposedly six new tenants will be taking over the former building.
Birdeez
Birdeez is moving forward with a planned July opening. The entertainment venue opening on North Sierra Street will feature miniature golf, darts, trivia, and more. Plus, two bars and a restaurant will be on site. Former tennis pro and serial entrepreneur Philippe Frayssinoux (who also has a hand in Sensology Reno, Tahoe Axe and Darts, Reno Axe, Puzzle Room Reno, and more) is one of the owners.
Best Bet Motor Lodge
Piper Stremmel and Chris Reilly, the team behind The Jesse Hotel and Abbyโs Highway 40 on Fourth Street in Reno, have announced their newest project, reopening the Best Bet Motor Lodge with their own signature flair. This signals the duoโs expansion into Midtown. Theyโve previously focused on projects in Renoโs Fourth Street corridor.
Reno Regency
Reno Regency, an apartment complex on Lake Street in Reno, has announced plans for a food hall on its ground floor space. Rumor has it a handful (or more) of the restaurants inside of Reno Public Market plan to expand their operations with second locations here.
Annaโs Taqueria
Annaโs Taqueria has announced the opening of a second location, this time in South Reno. The first location is on Wonder Street in Midtown.
Trader Joeโs
Trader Joeโs is expanding, as confirmed by the news that it will have another new storefront. The grocery company is adding a Sparks location.
Reno Public Market
Several businesses announced their exits from Reno Public Market on May 6. The four businesses to leave, after nearly 18 months in the market, include Wandering Wyld, Fuego Street Tacos, A La Parilla, and Brazilian Gourmet. Some cited high costs as their reason for departure while others staying in RPM took to social media to express their support of the business model.
Hibear
Reno resident and founder of Hibear Mark Tsigounis pitched his all-day adventure flask to a tank full of sharks on ABCโs Shark Tank TV series on April 5. He appeared on episode 19 of season 15. While he didnโt receive a financial offer from the investors, he gained a great deal of media exposure.
Cascade Kitchens
On the horizon, South Lake Tahoe is getting its first food hall. A $4.77 million investment went into Cascade Kitchens, which will be located at 1030 Tata Lane. The space will be filled with quick-service meals and grab-and-go grub by the end of the year.
The Cake Slice
The Cake Slice has offered a franchising opportunity for its South Reno location.
Liberty Toast
Mark Estee recently announced his newest venture, a quick-serve food option inside of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport called Liberty Toast, in mid-April 2024. The new spot is located in Concourse C, with a focus on grab-and-go food and breakfast options.
Trader Joeโs
South Renoites rejoice! A new Trader Joeโs is coming to The Summit mall. The grocer has filed permits for the location previously occupied by Orvis.
Fourk Kitchen
The owner of Fourk Kitchen in Reno announced plans to sell on Feb. 17, 2024, citing several reasons for stepping away. While Fourk remains open during the transition period, there are two opportunities for sale. The first is a straightforward sale of the space while the second would involve continuing the Fourk brand in tandem with the other locations of the restaurant.
