Sips Worth the Trip

Sips Worth the Trip

Inspiring libations at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

When it comes to the cocktails he concocts for his guests, Steven Sedillos, the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa’s property mixologist, enjoys creative combinations and finds inspiration throughout the region … including some unusual locales.

His well-trained bartending team crafts classic and signature cocktail selections using only high-quality spirits and ingredients. Sedillos describes its innovations as fresh, imaginative, and visually decadent.

Take, for example, the Riders of the Purple Sage, a mix of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Crème de Violette, sage simple syrup, fresh lemon, and lavender bitters. Tempt your taste buds with the La Fresa, a refreshing cocktail made with añejo tequila, Grand Marnier, amaretto, a strawberry-balsamic shrub, and Luxardo bitters. Or consider the Negroni’s Ghost, whose name dawned on Sedillos while he was visiting the historic Virginia City cemetery; the drink is made with Nolet’s gin, Lillet Blanc, Cocchi Americano, and Luxardo bitters.

For something more tropical, head to the Atlantis Steakhouse for a mai tai, prepared with several rums as well as Combier orange liqueur, bitters, and Orgeat syrup and served in a tiki glass with an edible flower.

Or for a twist on the traditional, try the Smoked Manhattan, a crowd pleaser made with Bulleit Rye Whiskey, Averna, and Angostura and orange bitters, then served in an intoxicatingly eye-pleasing glass wafting with wood-chip smoke.

For guests looking to give their alcohol intake a break, Sedillos’ team has developed an array of mocktails to whet your whistle without regrets. His goal was to create delicious, visually appealing beverages worthy of accompanying the dishes at any of the Atlantis’ many acclaimed dining establishments. He wanted freshness, a good weight on the tongue, and a nice balance, but not just the simple sodas and flavored waters that consumers already are used to.

Some tasty experimentation led to the Steakhouse’s Strawberry Balsamic Soda, made with club soda, strawberry-balsamic shrub, fresh lime, and blood orange bitters. At Bistro Napa, taste the Cucumber Herb Cooler, featuring muddled cucumber, lime, rosemary syrup, and ginger ale.

Sedillos’ vision helps set the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa’s bar menus apart, with distinctive flavors and enticing aesthetics, elevating every imbibing experience to exciting new heights. Ready to start sipping? For more information and reservations, visit Atlantiscasino.com/dining.
