Meet exceptional providers of nutritional products, physical therapy services, and medical and dental care.

Sierra Smiles

For more than 15 years, Dr. John Bocchi and the team at Sierra Smiles have provided safe, high-quality dental services using state-of-the-art technology and techniques with a non-invasive, preventative care approach. During the summer months, they typically see a decline in routine dental visits because of travel. This can affect your overall health, and pain in your mouth can really disrupt vacation plans.

“The consequences of not getting dental visits regularly can be detrimental in many ways,” Bocchi says. “Even a sensitive tooth or bleeding in the gums can indicate something is wrong. Infection in the tooth or gums can progress pretty fast and turn into a much more expensive, painful problem or disease.”

Bocchi explains that people tend to be fearful of dentistry because of the pain that can be associated with it.

“Most dental work can be done without any pain if there are routine visits to prevent problems before they start or to treat the concern at an early stage,” he says. “If we catch a tooth with a cavity at the early onset, we can fix it with a small filling versus a large crown or root canal.”

Be proactive, put your health first, and don’t let summer plans negate good dental and overall health. Book an appointment with Sierra Smiles Complete Health Dentistry in Reno and Lake Tahoe.

VitaKinetics

Developed to support active recovery after injury or surgery, sustain a busy lifestyle, or perform ideally in sports, VitaKinetics Active Recovery Blend promotes a healthy gut-brain connection for optimal results. Pain is a personal experience based on one’s history combined with local inflammatory inputs and the perception of pain in the brain. Intestinal integrity and proper nutrient absorption, along with VitaKinetics supplements, can help.

“Much of how we live our life, feed our bodies, manage stress, and move may aggravate that gut-brain connection and set you up for potentially developing chronic pain states,” explains Dr. Carolyn Dolan PT, owner and developer of VitaKinetics in Reno. “VitaKinetics promotes a healthy connection, which supports a normal healing process and natural pain reduction.”

Todd’s Body Shop

Todd’s Body Shop Physical Therapy & Rehab in Reno is a full-service physical therapy clinic specializing in manual therapy and progressive exercise.

“Manual therapy is hands-on work with specific techniques targeting soft tissue and manipulation,” explains Todd Eekhoff, master of physical therapy and owner of Todd’s Body Shop. “Through progressive exercise, we’re able to build strength and increase mobility for our patients.”

Eekhoff stresses the importance of physical therapy.

“People tend to come see us when they’re really hurt, but we can help with much more,” he says. “Lower back pain troubles impact so many and most think it’s a result of getting old, when it’s something we can treat quite easily.”

Saint Mary’s Neurology

Years of discomfort, frustration, and unanswered questions. That describes Jeannette Matthews’ experience with debilitating migraines. Defined as a neurological condition that is characterized by powerful, severe headaches, migraines can take a substantial toll on those they affect.

“I had pain in the neck, headaches, nausea, was sensitive to sound and lights,” Matthews explains. “I was bedridden and couldn’t function. I had about given up (on treatments), but then I was sent to Lisa.”

Lisa Hammargren Kuykendall is a nurse practitioner at Saint Mary’s Neurology. The practice serves patients throughout the area by offering multiple focused, treatment-oriented programs. Additionally, Hammargren Kuykendall has been specially trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of migraines. Her expertise and care have made significant impacts on many patients, but when it comes to those suffering from the difficult and variable effects of migraines, she’s able to provide healing and relief in even the most complex of patient presentations.

Matthews received a series of injections to block the release of chemicals in the body that transmit pain during migraine attacks. The drugs are useful for preventing and treating migraine.

Describing her first encounter as a patient of Hammargren Kuykendal, Matthews says, “After my first injection, I immediately felt the alleviating pressure and could instantly move my head left to right.”

What had been an increasingly frustrating battle with migraines had finally seen a breakthrough after just one appointment into the treatment plan with Hammargren Kuykendall.

Matthews finished with, “I have been seeing her for two to three years now and have never been happier. What I love about Lisa is that she takes the time to sit and talk to you and explains things to you. She makes me feel important and that I come first. She really does care.”

The American Migraine Foundation estimates that more than 39 million Americans suffer from migraines, a number that could be even higher when accounting for those who do not seek treatment or diagnoses. Symptoms typically include throbbing, pounding, or pulsating sensations; nausea and/or vomiting; sensitivity to light, noise, or smells; and severe head pain lasting anywhere from four hours to several days. Additionally, some individuals may experience what is called an aura, marked by visual and auditory disturbances.

If these symptoms match what you or a loved one routinely experience, consider scheduling an appointment with Saint Mary’s Neurology at 775-770-3554. Skilled providers are on hand who specialize in treating neurological disorders such as strokes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s, peripheral neuropathy, and chronic migraines. The team of providers is primed to test, diagnose, and treat the conditions you are experiencing. Like Matthews, you could be just one appointment away from relief.
