About the artist: Jonah Dees
โ€œFor this piece, I wanted to show the amazing color palette of the fall harvest and do it in an unpolished way. Throughout all my work, I like to incorporate a painterly/soft feeling. Our world can often feel rigid, so blurring the lines and environments through my art is therapeutic. I usually draw my inspiration from films, music, nature, and my own dreams. I think itโ€™s important for artists and storytellers not to be limited by reality or outside factors.โ€

Dees, 18, was born and raised in Reno and recently graduated from Reno High School. He is passionate about art and has been drawing his whole life; his work primarily involves painting, drawing in pencil and charcoal, and digital art, which is how he produced the piece featured here. He is a multiple Scholastic Art Awards winner. Dees will attend Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles this fall to begin pursuing his studio arts degree.
