SUMMARY:Shearing Day Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:This spring Atelier will be offering its Field Trip class once again! If you’ve ever wondered about how the wool gets from the sheep to the skein\, this is your chance to watch part of the process. Sarah Lillegard of High Desert Shearing and Heather River of @Hobo Ranch will be demonstrating and discussing the process of shearing sheep and skirting fleeces. You’ll get to ask questions\, handle fleeces\, and gain a better understanding of the how shearing fits in with our relationship to wool. During the day\, Heather will give you a ranch and studio tour and demo her wool dyeing process using dye plants grown at Hobo Ranch. Plus\, you’ll get to dye and take a home a skein of Hobo Ranch’s wool. \nThe Shearing Day Field Trip is outside and weather dependent. If there is rain or snow\, the event will have to be rescheduled. Please dress for outdoor weather and muddy terrain. You won’t be directly handling the sheep but\, you will be in a small ranch setting with all of the sights\, sounds and smells of livestock. All attendees will get an email prior to the event with car pool info\, directions and a liability waiver. All attendees are responsible for their own transportation.
