Artist profile
Jaimie Crush

“For this painting, I wanted to highlight familiar kitchen staples, along with some lesser-known ingredients. Daikon stood out the most to me. While this root vegetable has grown in popularity recently, I fondly remember it as a secret food of my childhood that none of the other kids knew about, just for me to enjoy. I was delighted to include it as a nod to my Vietnamese-American heritage.”

An avid foodie and frequent world traveler, Jaimie Crush is an “artsy weirdo” based in Reno, working primarily in watercolor and pen and ink. She dabbles in printmaking, acrylics, and mixed media.

She has taught printmaking and traditional book arts at A an Art gallery, Reno Studio Press 3, and the Nevada Discovery Museum, with a focus on introductory courses in collagraphs, relief printing, and bookbinding.
