If your beverage preferences are of the hoppy variety, stop by FiftyFifty Brewing Co.’s new 15,000-square-foot facility in Truckee, which celebrated its grand opening on Sept. 15. The brewhouse system is fully automated in the new, expanded space, allowing the award-winning brewery to continue to create the exact same beers it’s been producing, but on a larger scale. It replaced the brewing facility that was located behind the bar at FiftyFifty’s restaurant and pub.

Kitchen Collab also has opened, offering a dozen kitchen workspaces spread over 1,800 square feet, which are open to caterers, food trucks, and more. It’s run under the direction of chef Alex Tolger, who opened Kitchen Collab after several years at Truckee’s Drunken Monkey. In addition to offering versatile, multi-use kitchen space, Kitchen Collab will host themed pop-up dinners throughout the year, occasionally in partnership with local organizations such as the popular Tahoe Food Hub.

In Downtown Truckee, Philosophy opened over the summer, serving local and organic foods whenever possible, as well as a robust menu of California beers and wines. The newly updated space has a modern and hip urban vibe that will play host to a variety creative events through the fall, including trivia, book clubs, and an ongoing classical music series.

Just down the street and also offering local and fresh cuisine is The Station, slated to open in September. The menu features such offerings as quinoa and cashew cream bowls, slow-cooked chicken sandwiches, and soba noodle salads. It’s the newest project from longtime North Shore chef Danny McCabe, a graduate of the Johnson and Wales College of Culinary Arts.

Edible Reno-Tahoe readers know nothing beats a glass of wine or a hoppy brew next to a fire pit on a crisp fall evening. Fortunately, even if you don’t have a personal fire pit handy, you’ll find a handful of wine and beer events coming up around the lake to help you get into the fall spirit. That includes the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop and Camp Richardson’s Oktoberfest celebration in South Lake Tahoe, both on October 6.

Also, if you’re on Tahoe’s Nevada side, Thunderbird Lodge’s dinner series continues into the fall, with a special harvest-themed dinner and wine pairing on October 7.
