Energy efficient living goes beyond solar

Sol-Up may have gotten its start as a solar-only company, but since its inception in 2009, the company’s mission has expanded.

Today the goal is to support sustainable and energy-efficient living from top to bottom, including not just solar roof- and ground-mounted panels, but also appliances, doors, windows, and Tesla Powerwall battery packs. The connecting fibers of its various products are items that will champion a smaller environmental footprint and reduce overall energy costs.

“At Sol-Up, we believe that true energy efficiency goes beyond solar. That’s why we’re proud to offer a full suite of home improvement solutions designed to lower your utility bills, increase comfort, and maximize long-term value,” says Steve Hamile, chief operating officer at Sol-Up.

If your goals include cutting energy costs, boosting the resale value of your home, or living a more sustainable life, then a customized upgrade plan can help you achieve those dreams.

Doors & Windows
Doors and windows have an astronomical impact on utility bills and overall energy usage. It’s not just the appliances inside of your home that are predicting your monthly bills; it’s the exterior surfaces that are letting cool and hot air in and out of your home.

Sol-Up sells ProVia doors and windows throughout Nevada. These products are specifically designed to better insulate your home against harsh weather, keeping the inside cool and comfortable without running your HVAC system all day during the hot summer months.

Quality construction promises more protection against harsh climates, utilizing technology created with this purpose in mind, such as extruded aluminum screen frames, FineLine™ corner welds, ComfortTech™ glass, INNERGY™ Thermal Reinforcement, and more. ProVia specifically uses vinyl windows that are built to not just protect your home, but also look aesthetically appealing for better curb appeal.

All of ProVia’s products are ENERGY STAR®-certified, so they use significantly less energy to keep your home warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and optimally comfortable year-round.

Plus, the products’ certifications make them eligible for tax rebates.

Both entry and patio doors provide similar perks. You’ll find energy-efficient fiberglass doors with engineered channels built into the side rails and headers. A polyurethane core helps the final product achieve four times more insulating power than a typical fiberglass door.

The ProVia entry doors are 2.5 inches thick — 43 percent thicker than the average door — and are made to mimic the look of natural wood. Plus, Super Spacer technology, used on all windows and doors, optimizes distance between glass panes to provide better insulation and durability.

All of ProVia’s products are outfitted with Low-E glass to reflect infrared light and ultra-violet light, which protects everything inside from harsh UV light, including the people and pets who call it home.

By replacing original doors and windows, clients can save up to $1,200 per year on energy bills.

Appliances
A partnership with Blue Star appliances allows Sol-Up to move its mission into the kitchen. The induction ranges most used by Michelin chefs reduce energy usage by using a combination of electricity and induction magnetism.

And while these chef-quality appliances are used by professionals, Sol-Up makes it easier to get them into homes with four showrooms throughout the state, including one in Midtown Reno.

Other products made for home chefs and offered by Sol-Up include electric outdoor grills; atmospheric water recapture than can extract 2.5 gallons of water from the atmosphere per day at 9.2 pH, down to 2 percent humidity levels; and a bienzymatic cleansing product that naturally neutralizes grease.

Batteries and Beyond
If you’re dedicated to an energy-saving lifestyle, then it’s likely you own a battery-operated vehicle. Sol-Up sells EV-charging stations that can be used in the home, as well as Tesla products meant to power your whole home.

Sol-Up is Nevada’s No. 1 installer of Tesla Powerwall devices. This home battery system works with your solar panels to provide power, even during grid outages.

The Powerwall successfully hoards energy collected by solar panels during the day and keeps it accessible when needed. If a grid outage occurs, backup power is used for essential appliances and devices. This technology, combined with solar panels, is the best bet for becoming truly energy independent.

Powerwalls also offer cost savings, shifting energy consumption to times of day when rates are lowest.

All of the products mentioned above work with solar to achieve the lowest out-of-pocket costs and the smallest environmental footprint possible while still living a modern life.

“From Tesla Powerwalls that provide reliable backup power to high-performance windows and doors that keep your home insulated, we’re here to help you transform your home into an energy-efficient powerhouse,” Hamile says.

Whether you’re looking to cut energy costs, boost resale value, or simply live more sustainably, the Sol-Up team can help you design a customized upgrade plan that fits both lifestyle and budget.
